Just returned from my Truk trip...will be posting photos and itinerary over the next week when I find time. Photography conditions were rough due to (a) murkiness of the water and (b) small hatches and openings we used while entering and moving around the innards of the wreck.
Wrecks dived:
Before each dive, JJ would brief us for a half hour on the locations of all the cool stuff. Most of the engine rooms were so big and complex, you had to take a guide in or you'd never find your way out.
Typical of what we saw....bottles, china, torpedo shells, urinals, etc.
You might call this "desecrating a watery grave" but we call it good humor. The locals are allowed to do whatever the fuck they want. Our divemaster "Kent the Legend" has been diving Truk Lagoon for 25 years. That's probably around 10,000 dives.
Accommodations on the Truk Odyssey are spacious and clean.
Typical sunset. We had nice weather the entire trip....and very smooth sailing.
Language barrier: I need to buy "some" joints transforms to "fuck load" of joints. We dealt with it.
